The Alpacas Finally Arrive!
It's been a long time coming and the fruits of our labor have come to fruition. Half of our herd arrived November 17th and we'll get three more animals in about 3 more weeks. We need to do one last pregnancy test before bringing them home.
My Mom and Dad flew in from Florida over the Thanksgiving holiday and stayed here at the farm. The weather wasn't real nice but I think they enjoyed the visit. It was great to spend Thanksgiving with both Tara's parents and mine as well. It was also nice to take a little break from all the work too!
I've got a bit of a routine going with the feeding every morning and despite the damp, rainy, cold weather, I will have to say it's been very enjoyable. The girls and boy seem to enjoy it when I arrive at the barn every morning. I know it's because I'm about to give them food because the alpacas are just eating machines. But I would like to think they at least like me a little bit.
Sammie is the friendliest alpaca as she comes to me first and doesn't care if I hang out in the pen with her. She has the sweetest disposition. She takes the food right from my hand.
Enough rambling for now..... here's a few photos:
