The Junior Herdsires
Tara and I snapped well over 100 pictures this past week and it never ceases to amaze me how you can take so many and only get a few good ones. Alpacas are not the easiest subjects to photograph.
Here are a few of the future herdsire wannabe's hoping to carry the torch when Wira Cocha retires.

Otto as we call him has a certain flair about him. When you see this striking male the first thing you say is WOW! He is handsome, has great presence, is very confident and has a sweet temperament. Not to mention he has Peruvian Victor genetics. He is the total package and he has definitely earned a spot on herdsire row at Ambriel Acres.

"Thorello"

Thor is one little spitfire. He has had spunk from the get go. He is not quite 5 months old but has that charisma and confidence you would expect from a much older male. Plus, he has that sweet gentle temperament like his Dam Trellianna. We're definitely keeping a close eye on this little guy. And he's white to boot!
The picture below depicts Thor living up to the meaning of his name "Young Bull". He was just under one month old when I captured this photo with him climbing aboard IOAC Aurora during a breeding session.

I'm still waiting for a nice shot of Romeo. This is the best I could do. Romeo is a good looking boy with very nice fleece. He has a very sweet temperament and good bone structure, but we're still on the fence with him as far as herdsire row goes. He has filled out an application for stud row membership but nobody gets accepted until they are at least 2 years old and Romeo is only 1-1/2 years old at this point.

In the photo below is Romeo's Sire, Atlantic's Sunburst Rooney. He is co-owned between Alpaca Atlantic and Deep River Alpacas. Notice the resemblance? Thanks to Lisa Olsen for the picture.

Next we have Massimo. Talk about tough to get a good shot. Try to capture a black alpaca on camera. This guy is very sweet but stands his ground when the boys fight to establish the pecking order. He's one tough dude! He also has filled out an application for herdsire row but again he's still too young. So far we like what we see in him and he does have that presence or flair about him, plus he has velvety soft fleece and he's true black. So he's got that going for him. We'll just wait and see.

In this picture he reminds me of his Sire Wira Cocha because, they are both posers!
