The Second Coming
The 2nd wave of alpacas came in today. OK, it was more like a ripple. Three more of our animals landed here at the farm this morning. Ruth Hussey, with cria Romeo by her side and Trellianna, the big white girl. She is our biggest girl weighing in at 160 lbs. She's fresh off a breeding last month to Wira Cocha, and we'll be expecting her cria in the fall of '08.
I gave my first shots to the alpacas this morning. I injected their monthly dose of Ivermectin which is a broad-spectrum anti-parasite medication, used in prevention against meningeal worm. Additionally, I didn't jab my finger with the needle which was a bonus.
Everyone is fine and have settled in nicely. The dogs are protecting and doing their job which makes mine easier. I snapped a couple of photos of the new additions and you can see them below:

Congratulations on the homecoming! We wish you much joy in your alpaca adventures!
Pam
Thank you Pam. I have to tell you that Trellianna is the sweetest thing. She has a great disposition and is so gentle. She's the first to greet me in the morning and she takes the food right out of my hand. I don't know if you guys messed with her a lot when she was young but, she sure is a sweetheart!
