Ambriel Acres Alpacas

In this blog, I'm going to talk about our alpaca farm, Ambriel Acres Alpacas. We are located in the Middle Tennessee Valley between Nashville and Chattanooga. We'll be essentially starting from the ground up so if you're thinking about starting your own alpaca business, this might be a good place to learn. If you're just curious, welcome aboard.

Another Cria is Born

We had our newest cria born today, his name is Massimo. The name is Italian in origin meaning "Greatest". Massimo is jet black. The dam was medium brown in color and the sire medium silver grey. Alpaca breeding is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get! That's three males in a row for us so hopefully in the spring of '08 we'll even out the scorecard and get some females on the ground. Both mother and cria are doing fine. It's amazing how in just a short time the cria is up and running.

So without further adieux, thanks to Lisa Olsen's quick finger on the shutter, here's Massimo:

I just had to throw in another picture of Romeo:

Another cutie. His fiber looks like black velvet. Hopefully, Anna can produce a girl for you, but if even one of those boys is herdsire quality, you'll do well.

Yeah, Lisa & Bill have had a good laugh. Tara wanted an all-white herd and the only way she has gotten white was if she bought it!
